Red Flash Drop Regular Season Finale at Robert Morris

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. (Nov. 6, 2010) – The Saint Francis men's soccer team faced a desperate Robert Morris squad on its Senior Day on Saturday afternoon and dropped a 2-0 Northeast Conference contest in both teams' regular season finales.

The Red Flash had already locked up a playoff spot in next weekend's Northeast Conference Championship, but the Colonials needed a win against SFU and some help to secure their own playoff spot.

SFU fell to 10-6-1 overall, and 6-3-1 in the Northeast Conference. The Red Flash will find out their NEC semifinal opponent following tonight's Fairleigh Dickinson at Sacred Heart match. The Colonials improved to 9-7-2 overall, and 5-3-2 in the NEC.

“Today we learned a hard lesson about the necessity of having the right mentality every game, day in and day out,” said Saint Francis head coach Michael Casper. “We will pick ourselves up, have a good week of training, and get ready for the weekend.”

Miro Cabrila wound up with the game-winner after scoring off a header at 19 minutes, 58 seconds.

Senior Sean O'Reilly (Front Royal,Va./Seton) (Front Royal, Va. / Seton) nearly tied it when he blasted a shot from 16-yards out in the 53rd minute, but Robert Morris goalkeeper Toba Bolaji went to his right for a great save and controlled the rebound.

Senior Patrick Fleming (Dunedin, New Zealand/Bayfield) (Dunedin, New Zealand / Bayfield) again nearly tied it, but his shot was stopped by a wall of RMU players in the 56th minute.

Fleming had another opportunity in the 73rd minute when his 40-yard rocket was snared by Bolaji.

However, the Colonials put the game out of reach when Luca Campos scored at 79:08 to make it 2-0.

Robert Morris held a 13-10 edge in shots and a 7-5 advantage in corner kicks.

Sophomore goalkeeper Daniel Valcicak (Herndon, Va./Gonzaga College) (Herndon, Va. / Gonzaga College) had three saves for the Red Flash.
