LORETTO, Pa. (Oct. 10, 2010) – The Saint Francis women's cross country team put forth a team effort and came away with a victory in the 2010 Father Bede Hines Invitational on Saturday at the Immergrun Golf Club.
Freshman
Gloria Roberts (Upper Marlboro, Md./Frederick Douglass) (Upper Marlboro, Md. / Frederick Douglass), who is pictured to the left, won the college women's individual title with a time of 21 minutes, 8 seconds. She helped pace SFU to 37 team points, which beat out the performances of Robert Morris (64) and Hagerstown Community College (84).
Junior
Sarah Frydrych (Wilmington, Del./St. Mark's) (Wilmington, Del. / St. Mark's) took second with a time of 21:29, freshman
Colleen Kelly (Altoona, Pa./Bishop Guilfoyle) (Altoona, Pa. / Bishop Guilfoyle) finished third in 21:58, junior
Calley Bridges (Slippery Rock, Pa./Slippery Rock) (Slippery Rock, Pa. / Slippery Rock) was fifth in 22:20, and junior
Lauren Krug (Ashville, Pa./Penn Cambria) (Ashville, Pa. / Penn Cambria) finished ninth in 23:29.
Also competing for the Red Flash were freshman
Hannah Brooks (Dysart, Pa./Penn Cambria) (Dysart, Pa. / Penn Cambria), and junior
Brittany Busse (North Olmsted, Ohio/North Olmsted) (North Olmsted, Ohio / North Olmsted). Brooks took 12
th in 24:10, and Busse finished 13
th in 24:23.
In honor of former Red Flash coach Alan Bachman, Saint Francis had several alumni return to run in the race, including Roberta (Pickens) Croner, Anna (Hoffman) Balouris, Kate (Wallace) Remillard), Tammy (Pearson) Nagle, and Mary Arnslein.
Inching closer to the Northeast Conference Championships (Oct. 30), Saint Francis will return to action next Saturday at the University of Delaware Blue and Gold Invitational.
