PITTSBURGH, Pa. (Mar. 30, 2010) – The Saint Francis softball team struggled in a pair of mid-week, non-conference games against Big East foe Pittsburgh, dropping 4-0 and 9-0 contests on Tuesday afternoon.
The Panthers scored in three different innings in their 4-0 Game 1 victory over the Red Flash, and used a six-run first inning to put SFU on its heals in a five-inning Game 2.
Saint Francis dropped to 9-20 overall, and will look to rebound in another trip to Pittsburgh when it takes on Northeast Conference rival Robert Morris on Friday afternoon.
The Red Flash had three hits in Game 1, a double by senior
Stephanie Griffin (Dupont, PA /Pittston Area ) (Dupont, Pa. / Pittston Area), and singles by junior
Raquel Rugani (Montour, PA/Montour) (McKees Rocks, Pa. / Montour) and senior
Christina Aulbach (York, PA /Dallastown Area) (York, Pa. / Dallastown Area).
Alyssa O'Connell held Saint Francis to just one hit in the second game, a single by freshman Taylor Darneille (Fircrest, Wash. / Wilson).
