Red Flash drop NEC opener to St. Francis College, 3-1

BROOKLYN, N.Y. (Sept. 25, 2010)Lindsay Malloy (Gallitzin, Pa./Penn Cambria) (Gallitzin, Pa./Penn Cambria) and Lauren Wingard (York, Pa./Dallastown Area) (York, Pa./Dallastown Area) teamed up for 26 kills on Saturday afternoon, but it wasn't enough for Saint Francis University to overcome St. Francis College, as the Red Flash fell to the Terriers, 3-1 (25-21, 23-25, 23-25, 18-25) to open Northeast Conference play.

With the win, St. Francis College upped its record to 5-9 (1-0 NEC), while the Red Flash fell to 2-12 (0-1 NEC).

Malloy led the Flash offensive with 14 kills, while Wingard was close behind, firing 12 markers. Wingard compiled at a very respectable .471 hitting percentage in the match.

Freshman setter Logan Meinert (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny) (Wexford, Pa. / North Allegheny) notched a match-high 41 assists in the losing effort.

Defensively, Meinert and Christine Breisch (Edwardsburgh, Mich./Edwardsburgh) (Edwardsburg, Mich. / Edwardsburg) led the way with 13 and 11 digs, respectively.

Anisa Lila paced the Terrier offense with a match-high 15 kills.

The Red Flash look to rebound on Sunday when they visit Long Island for a 2 p.m. match.
