SFU Hires Lacey George as Assistant Director of Athletics for Compliance and Facilities

LORETTO, Pa. (August 13, 2009) – Pennsylvania native Lacey George has been hired in the newly created position of Assistant Director of Athletics for Compliance and Facilities at Saint Francis University, Senior Associate Director of Athletics Erika Renwick announced on Thursday.

George, who was a Compliance Assistant and then Assistant Director of Compliance at the University of South Carolina, will begin her duties on Monday, August 17.

“I am very excited to welcome Lacey George to the Red Flash family,” said Renwick. “She provides a great deal of administrative experience that will add a new dimension to NCAA compliance in this newly created position. Lacey's work ethic and commitment to college athletics will be a terrific asset to the university, and we look forward to working with her in the months and years to come.”

George is a native of Greensburg, Pa., and attained her bachelors in Sport Administration from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 2005. She then earned her masters in Sport Management from Slippery Rock in 2006.

George brings more than three years of experience working in compliance, and has eight years of experience in college athletics as a student-athlete, coach and administrator. At Saint Francis, she will oversee NCAA compliance as well as facilities management.

George spent the past three years at the University of South Carolina, where she was the Assistant Director of Compliance for the last two years. She coordinated all NCAA compliance functions for eight varsity sports including, but not limited to, providing NCAA rules interpretations to coaches, staff and community, monitoring student-athlete employment, and administering and monitoring the fifth-year athletics financial aid and medical exemption aid programs. George served as a Compliance Assistant at South Carolina from September 2006 until she was promoted to her most recent position in June of 2007.

Prior to her time at South Carolina, George was a Compliance Office Intern at Coastal Carolina University, where she assisted in organizing and implementing all aspects of NCAA rules.

As a four-year starter and full scholarship women's volleyball player at IUP, George was a two-year team captain and an NCAA Division II Honorable Mention All-American. She was the Most Outstanding Sport Management Student at IUP in 2005. After graduating from IUP, George moved on to Slippery Rock University, where she served as a graduate assistant women's volleyball coach for one year. She assisted in all aspects of the program, including practice preparation, scouting and recruiting, and assisting in organizing and managing tournaments and team events.
