Box Score
HAMDEN, Conn. (Oct. 15, 2011) – The Saint Francis University women's volleyball team fell in straight sets (18-25, 22-25, 23-25) to Northeast Conference member Quinnipiac Saturday afternoon.
In each of the three sets at Burt Kahn Court, the Red Flash (7-15, 2-5) kept right with the Bobcats (3-17, 2-5) but struggled to find ways to pull out set wins. In the second set, SFU held an 18-13 advantage past the halfway point but Quinnipiac came back to tie the set at 20 all and eventually took the lead and the win.
The best chance the Flash had in the afternoon to capture a set win came in the third frame when they tied the score with QU at 23 late in the set. The Bobcats earned a kill of their own and an attack error by Saint Francis gave them set and match point.
Junior
Amanda Zahumensky (Sarver, Pa./Freeport Area) was the only Flash player to reach double digits in kills as she picked up 10 on the day. Sophomores
Breanna Kochinsky (Nicktown, Pa./Northern Cambria) and
Brittany Stambaugh (Leola, Pa./Conestoga Valley) each notched 11 digs apiece to lead the team's defensive efforts. Junior
Kierstin Kiser (Clarion, Pa./Clarion) earned the start at setter and produced 27 assists.
