Red Flash Takes Fifth at Northeast Conference Championship

Grossi and Haffner led the way for SFU

HOLMDEL, N.J.
– The Saint Francis University women's cross country took fifth at the Northeast Conference Championship meet Saturday.
 
Sarah Grossi (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon McMillan) led the way for the Red Flash with an eighth-place finish with a time of 19:18.50 on the 5-kiolmeter course. Jennifer Haffner followed the senior with a time of 19:22.10, who finished ninth overall. Grossi and Haffner earned all-conference honors.
 
 Hannah Reist (Cleona, Pa./Cedar Crest) crossed the line third for the Red Flash with a time of 19:45.60. Gloria Roberts (Upper Marlboro, Md./Frederick Douglass) crossed the 37th overall and fourth for the Flash with a time 20:16.60. Katie Cianci (Greenville, Pa./Kennedy Catholic) rounded out the scoring-five for the Flash with a 40th-place finish and a time of 20:18.20.
 
Quinnipiac claimed the team title with a time with 44 points. Sacred Heart finished second, Monmouth third and Central Connecticut State took fourth edging the Red Flash by eight points. Alasia Briebel of CCSU earned the individual title with a time of 18:42.10.
 
Saint Francis returns to action Nov. 12 at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship in Princess Anne. Md.
