Game 30 Preview- Mount St. Mary's at Saint Francis

FULL PREGAME RELEASE (pdf)

The Red Flash wrap-up the regular season as they host Mount St. Mary's on Monday for a 7 p.m. contest that could also be termed the 'NEC Regular Season Championship Game.'

Saint Francis can claim its eighth regular season title – and its first since the 2004-05 campaign – with a win and/or a Monmouth loss at Quinnipiac.  The Mount was mathematically eliminated from postseason contention with Saturday's, 74-61, loss at Robert Morris.

The Mountaineers are one of only three NEC teams against which Saint Francis trails in the all-time series: MSM holds a 26-25 edge in meetings which date back to the 1988 season. SFU, however, has won the last four meetings against The Mount (more below).

The Flash are also looking for their seventh consecutive home win and their 16th in their past 17 games in Loretto.  Saint Francis' record for home wins in a season is 12 (1999-2000).
With a victory, Susan Robinson Fruchtl can move into a tie for fifth place on the program's career wins list (57).

NEXT UP: NEC QUARTERFINAL
While Saint Francis' seed in the upcoming Northeast Conference tournament will be decided on Monday, the league's seventh- and eighth-places spots are already locked up.  If the Flash fall to the second seed with a loss to Mount St. Mary's in the finale, they'll welcome Central Connecticut State to DeGol Arena on March 5th. With a regular season-ending win and/or a Monmouth loss, #8 Fairleigh Dickinson will make its way to Loretto.

POSTSEASON?DATES,?TIMES?ANNOUNCED

The Red Flash will host a first round game of the 2011 NEC Championship tournament on March 5 at DeGol Arena.  Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.  The opponent in the game is pending the completion of the regular season.  In the event of a Saint Francis?win in the quarterfinal round, a semifinal game will go down in Loretto on March 8.

DALY CLIMBS TO 14th PLACE?ON?SCORING LIST

With 1,129 points, senior Allison Daly (Harrisburg, Pa./Trinity) currently ranks 14th on the Saint Francis career socring list.  By scoring an even 14 points in Jan. 10's 75-62 win over Mount St. Mary's, Daly became Saint Francis' 20th 1,000-point scorer.

LILLEY AMONG NCAA ASSIST LEADERS, IN LINE TO SCORE 1,000th
Brittany Lilley (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park)'s 15 assists against Kent State tied for the third-most in an NCAA?Division I game so far this season.  As of Feb. 24, her 5.1 helpers per contest also ranked 41st in the country and led the Northeast Conference.  With 925 career points, the junior stands an excellent chance to become SFU's 21st millennial scorer.

ROBINSON FRUCHTL POISED TO?ADVANCE ON CAREER WINS LIST
Saint Francis head coach Susan Robinson Fruchtl earned her 50th career win with Jan. 24th's victory, 72-60, triumph over St. Francis (N.Y.).  Looking ahead, Robinson Fruchtl needs one win to catch her predecessor Jill Poe (2003-07) in career wins.  Poe went 57-62 in her four seasons at the helm.

ROOKIE WILLIAMS SHOWING 'FLASHES OF?GREATNESS'
Alli Williams (Altoona, Pa./Bishop Guilfoyle) per coach Robinson Fruchtl has shown 'flashes of greatness' on several occasions throughout the year.  The freshman has averaged 10.5 points per game since exploding for 29 points against Kent State on Dec. 4.  After joining the starting lineup a game later in place of injured Shené Fleming, Williams scored 22 points at Howard.  She has two double-doubles this season with the most recent coming vs. RMU on Feb. 12 (18 pts/10 reb).  With 174 boards, she is currenly SFU's no. two rebounder.

WITH A WIN, SFU CAN INITIATE HISTORIC SHIFT
Saint Francis can tie Mount St. Mary's in the all-time series for the first time ever with a win on Monday.  The Mount – which captured nine NEC Regular season titles between 1989-90 and 2000-01 – won 14 of the first 17 meetings between the two schools.  The Flash have pulled within one on two separate occasions but the Mountaineers have responded with a win each time.

Leach TIED FOR?SIXTH SPOT ON SFU SCORING LIST
With 1,526 career points, Samantha Leach (Mount Sterling, Ohio/Miami Trace) is currently tied with former teammate Britney Hodges (Dayton, Ohio/Mount de Chantal) for sixth place on the SFU all-time scoring list and became the school's seventh 1,500-point scorer by tossing in 25 points at Fairleigh Dickinson (2/19/11).  The 5-10 guard also became the 19th Red Flash player to break the 1,000-point barrier with her first bucket of 2010 NEC title game at Long Island.

RED FLASH RAMPING UP HOME COURT ADVANTAGE
With a 10-1 record at DeGol Arena and at least two home games remaining, the Red Flash have clinched a winning record at home for the third consecutive season. Saint Francis
compiled 8-5 records in Loretto in 2009-10 and 2008-09.  SFU is 30-21 at home under Susan Robinson Fruchtl and is 25-11 at DeGol Arena over the past three seasons.
