RALEIGH, N.C. (March 26, 2011) – The Saint Francis University men's track & field team wrapped up its first event of the outdoor season – the adidas Raleigh Relays – on Saturday with a handful of strong performances, most of which came courtesy of underclassmen.
Freshman
Chris Fischer (Altoona, Pa./Altoona ) started things off with a second-place time of 9:35.59 in the second section of the 3,000m steeple chase. Sophomore
Sean Kirby (Clarksville, Md./River Hill) brought home a seventh place time of 9:46.98.
In the hammer throw, junior
Terry Bookhamer (Altoona, Pa./Altoona) registered a personal best with a toss of 52.20m.
An eighth place finish by the 4x800m relay highlighted a trio of relays that competed on the day. The 4x8 quartet of
Ryan DuBois (Wayne, N.J./DePaul Catholic),
Jacob Portock (Souderton, Pa./Souderton ) and
Chris Behre (Flanders, NJ/Mount Olive) started off their spring by running a collective 7:46.99.
In the 4x100m relay,
Cedric Forbes (Corning, N.Y./Corning ),
Issa Connell (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll), Christopher Freidhoff and
Everette Farmer (Baltimore, MD/Loyola, Blakefield) compiled a 15th place time of 43.61, while
Anthony Rusonis (York, Pa./West York Area) and
Daniel Drozdowsky (Toronto, Ontario/Michael Power-St. Joseph) joined Connell and Farmer to take 22nd place in the 4x200m relay with a run of 1:32.09.
