Saint Francis vs. Duquesne Moved to Primetime

The Red Flash and Dukes to meet at 7 p.m.

LORETTO, Pa. (Aug. 4, 2011) – The Northeast Conference and Saint Francis University announced Thursday that the Red Flashes' home game Sept. 24 against Duquesne has been moved to a 7 p.m. start for television.

The game will be broadcast live on Fox 8 Johnstown/Altoona, PCNC Pittsburgh and MSG in high definition. The contest will also be shown on a tape delay on ROOT Sports-Pittsburgh on Oct. 3 at 6 p.m. in HD. Smithmyer's Superette will also sponsor the game.

“Our commitment and relationship with Saint Francis University is why we have placed this game in primetime,” Fox 8 General Manager Frank Quitoni said. “We want as many people as possible to experience the quality of student-athlete at Saint Francis University. Fox 8 remains committed to bringing the best of our local community to our viewers.”

The contest between the Red Flash and the Dukes will mark the second ever conference meeting between the two schools in Loretto. Saint Francis and Duquesne have split their last two meetings with the Red Flash claiming a 31-14 win in 2009 and Dukes winning a 41-17 contest a season ago. The Red Flash are very familiar with Duquesne as they have played the Dukes more than any other opponent in a rivalry that dates back to 1913.

The contest will be just the second ever contest at night at DeGol Field. Saint Francis and Duquesne squared off in the first ever night game at DeGol Field back in 2009 when the Red Flash knocked off the Dukes 31-14. The game time change gives Saint Francis its third night game of the season, as they will also play North Dakota State and Robert Morris in night games.

Saint Francis opens the 2011 season Sept. 3 in Staten Island, N.Y. against Wagner and the Red Flash begin their home slate Sept. 17 against Morehead State with kickoff set for 1 p.m. And for all the latest on Saint Francis Football follow the Red Flash on Twitter @RedFlashFB
