Geno Calgaro, a member of the Saint Francis football team, has been named an NEC Prime Performer for his performance against Stonehill on Saturday. It is the sixth time this season he's earned NEC Prime Performer honors.
Calgaro finished the season finale with eight tackles, surpassing the 100-tackle milestone for the first time in his career. He raced past his previous career high of 70, set last season, finishing his season with a team-leading 105 tackles. The sophomore also recorded the first fumble recovery of his career after redshirt freshman Corey Williams forced the ball loose, allowing Calgaro to return it 27 yards.

Throughout the season, Calgaro served as the key player anchoring the Red Flash defense, topping the team in solo and assisted tackles as well as tackles for loss. His impressive efforts extended beyond the NEC, earning him a position among the FBS leaders, ranking 20th in solo tackles (54), 25th in assisted tackles (51), 24th in total tackles nationwide (105), and 17th in tackles per game (9.5).

Looking back on his sophomore year, Calgaro's best game was against FBS opponent Buffalo University, where he recorded seven solo tackles and eight assists to give him an overall of 15 total tackles on the day. However, in conference play, the linebacker's best game came on senior day against LIU, when he recorded a season-high 12 solo tackles, swallowing the Sharks' offense and helping Saint Francis stay within striking distance until the final moments of the game.
