PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (Jan. 22, 2012) – The Drexel Dragons posted a, 4-0, win over the Saint Francis U. women's tennis team on Sunday afternoon at the Drexel Armory. The match format was condensed due to time constraints after the men's match when over its allotted time.
The seasoned Dragon's squad pulled off its win over the Red Flash in straight sets, although freshman
Lucy Jasso (San Luis Potosi, Mexico/Instituto Potosino) put up some stiff resistance in the no. 3 position. Jasso pushed Zeynep Mafa to the limit in the first set before falling, 7-6. Mafa took the second, 6-2.
“Whenever you have five freshmen playing in all line-up positions, it's always going to be a challenge to pull off wins,” explained SFU head coach Paul Tobin. “I can't get too upset with our women, they played hard.”
Saint Francis returns to action on Jan. 28 when it visits UMBC for an 3 p.m. match.
