LORETTO, Pa. (Oct. 29, 2012) – Josh Thiel (Leesburg, Va./Heritage) of the Saint Francis University football team earned national honorable mention Place Kicker Performer of the Week honors from the College Football Performance Awards Monday.
 
Early in the fourth quarter Saturday at Central Connecticut State, Thiel connected on a 50-yard field goal to set a new school record. The senior place kicker now holds the five longest kicks in SFU history. The native of Leesburg, Va. is now a perfect 7-for-7 in field goals on the season with two games remaining. Additionally, Thiel is 5-of-5 this season and 8-of-9 over the past two seasons from 40 yards or longer.
 
Saint Francis earns a bye week this weekend and will return to the field Saturday Nov. 10 for a nationally televised game at Monmouth beginning at noon.
