LORETTO, Pa. (May 7, 2012) – Kyle Harbridge (Easton, Pa./Easton Area) earned a spot on the College Football Performance Awards 2012 Running Back Watch List.
Harbridge ranked sixth in the Football Championship Subdivision last season in rushing and 10th in all of division I averaging 130-yards per game rushing despite playing just a half against eventual national champion North Dakota State and just one play against Bryant, due to injury. The Easton, Pa. native also ranked fifth-nationally in all-purpose yards and averaged 6.77 yards per play in 2012. The senior rewrote the SFU record book in 2011 setting single-season records for rushing yards, rushing touchdowns and points. Harbridge's big 2011 season was highlighted by a record setting day against Morehead State where he rushed for a single-game school record 346 yards, accounted for a record 457 all-purpose yards (10 yards short of the FCS record) and recorded a school record four touchdowns. The big game made Harbridge the first player in Northeast Conference history named National Player of the Week.
The running back outrushed 39 of the 120 teams in the FCS to lead SFU in rushing and earn Third-Team All-American honors from the Beyond Sports Network. Harbridge stood out as the biggest “big play” back in the nation, posting more rushes of 75-yards or more than every other team in the nation. Harbridge led all division I running backs in the state of Pennsylvania in rushing yards per game and trailed just Temple's Bernard Pierce in total yards.
