Greek Pride on Display at Men's Basketball Contest

LORETTO, Pa. (Jan. 28, 2013) - Over one hundred student members of Saint Francis' fraternities and sororities came out to celebrate Greek Life night at Thursday evening's men's basketball contest against Robert Morris.

"The SFU Greek Life program has grown from humble beginnings to become one of the most recognized programs in North America," said Bobby Anderson, who oversees Greek Life on campus. "For its excellence in academic achievement, SFU has placed first in the Northeast region twice in just the past two years. We are grateful to Coach Rob Krimmel and the athletics staff for this opportunity to come together and hope that this will be the first of many more collaborations to come!"

As part of the evening's festivities, a spirit banner contest was held. The top prize went to Phi Delta Kappa, who earned a pizza party after their banner was selected by the men's basketball team. Alpha Phi Delta took home runner up honors. Thanks in part to Greek Life, the Northeast Conference and SAO sponsored Flash Fever student section had 357 students attend Thursday night's game.

"Over the past century, Greek Life and athletics have brought much pride to the University and have created everlasting memories for so many of our alumni," Anderson said. "It was an awesome opportunity for both programs to come together for a night to show strength and support for one another as collectively they represent over half of the University's student-body."
