BOX SCORE LORETTO, Pa. – (Oct. 19, 2013) Robert Morris downed the Red Flash in three straight sets Saturday night in the friendly confines of DeGol Arena. The Colonials (5-18; 4-3) proved to be too much for the Frankies (2-18; 4-3) to handle falling (23-25,22-25,15-25).

Sophie Murdock (Lake Orion, Mich./Lake Orion ) turned in an excellent night with 7 kills and a team-high .438 hitting percentage. The Clifton Park, N.Y., native Hannah Kutny (Clifton Park, N.Y./Catholic Central) turned in a team-high kill performance with 14 also chipping in seven digs. Junior Alanna Blenkarn (Pickering, Ontario, Canada/Pickering) led the team in assists with 34.

The Colonials stopped the versatile Saint Francis attack early in the opening sets, exposing the floor for the Robert Morris attack. RMU quickly stole the lead from SFU in the first two sets off several attacking errors created by the Robert Morris defense scheme. The Colonials would edge the Red and White 25-23,25-22 to carry a cushiony 2-0 lead into the third set.

The Red Flash had an early lead throughout the third set, but could not stop the Colonial offensive threat as Robert Morris claimed their fourth Northeast Conference victory 25-15 over SFU.

The Red Flash return to action next Friday at 2 p.m. against the Bryant Bulldogs (7-17; 3-3).
