BOX SCORE LORETTO, Pa. – (Nov. 17, 2013) The Saint Francis women's volleyball team concluded it's season Sunday afternoon after a, 3-0, loss to the Sacred Heart Pioneers.
The Flash jumped out to an early, 3-1, lead off back-to-back attacking errors by the Pioneers, but failed to control the tempo of the first set losing, 25-19.
Saint Francis struggled to hold a lead in the second set, as the Pioneers slowly increased it's lead to, 14-6, off a, 6-0, rally. The Flash responded going on a, 4-1 rally narrowing SHU's lead to, 17-13.
Edging out the Frankies, 25-19, in the second set SHU grabbed a, 2-0, lead entering the third set.
After a, 7-4, third set start favoring the Pioneers, Saint Francis went on a 8-2 run forcing a Sacred Heart timeout. Following several late rallies by Sacred Heart, the Pioneers finally over powered Saint Francis, 25-23, to win in straight sets.
Chelsea Easter (Burlington, Ontario, Canada/Notre Dame Roman Catholic) led Saint Francis in kills with eight, totaling nine points while
Hannah Kutny (Clifton Park, N.Y./Catholic Central) had a team-high 12 digs.
Alanna Blenkarn (Pickering, Ontario, Canada/Pickering) tallied 19 assists, five digs, and one service ace on the evening for the Red and White.
Brittany Stambaugh (Leola, Pa./Conestoga Valley) chipped in three service aces and three digs in the contest.
