BOX SCORE MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – (Nov. 2, 2013) After taking a, 1-0, set lead the Saint Francis U women's volleyball team dropped three straight sets to Robert Morris (25-19, 12-25, 22-25, 16-25) as they remain tied with Bryant for fifth place.
The Colonials (7-19; 6-4) struggled to gain any momentum in the first set, as Saint Francis (3-20; 3-7) jumped out to a, 3-0, lead and never looked back. Following their 25-19 victory SFU hit a wall, allowing RMU to open up a, 4-0, lead over the Red and White that ended in a 25-12 lopsided affair favoring the Colonials.
Saint Francis battled back in the third set holding several early leads until Robert Morris regained the lead, 14-13, to eventually edge out the Frankies 25-22.
The fourth set favored the Flash, but the Colonials rallied for a third time in front of their home crowd to beat Saint Francis 25-16.
Kayla Jeckell (Mountaintop, Pa./Crestwood) recorded a team-high 14 kills in the match, while
Breanna Kochinsky (Nicktown, Pa./Northern Cambria) posted a team-high in digs with 22.
Alanna Blenkarn (Pickering, Ontario, Canada/Pickering) tallied 39 assists and the lone service ace for the SFU in the match.
The Saint Francis women's volleyball team travels to Brooklyn N.Y. Nov. 9 at 1 p.m. for their next match against LIU Brooklyn.
