Aisha Brock (Jacksonville, Fla./Potter's House Christian Academy) for a lay-in with just over 30 seconds to go and SFU led for the first time since the 6:23 mark.
With the game knotted at 85 apiece Williams was fouled going to the basket with eight seconds to play, Williams knocked down one-of-two from the charity stripe to give SFU the lead for good.
"I just went in and knocked down a free throw, I've been there before so I didn't think too much into it,"
Alli Williams (Altoona, Pa./Bishop Guilfoyle) said.
"We had great contributions off the bench, and it was a real gutsy performance coming back and winning that game," SFU head coach
Joe Haigh said.
Howard and SFU battled even for about 12 minutes in the first half before the Flash went on a 10-2 run resulting in a 10-point advantage with five minutes to play in the period. The Bison battled back within two and SFU led 36-34 at the break.
Again both teams battled in the second half, it was Howard who pulled away after a 7-2 run and the Bison led 65-59 with eight minutes to play.
With
Alli Williams (Altoona, Pa./Bishop Guilfoyle) in foul trouble late, it was
Erin Blaine (Washington, D.C./H.D. Woodson) who keyed an SFU run. Blaine made two key free throws and
Aisha Brock (Jacksonville, Fla./Potter's House Christian Academy) followed it up with a three to tie the game at 65.
Rebecca Keegan (Jessup, Pa./Valley View) provided two offensive rebounds on the same possession to allow the Brock three.
It was Brock again that knocked down another triple to give SFU the 68-67 lead with just over six minutes to play.
"Alli is always going to lead this team night in and night out, but the contributions we got from Aisha, Erin, and Rebecca really carried us to the victory tonight," Haigh continued.
Rebecca Keegan (Jessup, Pa./Valley View) finished with 13 points and seven rebounds and was one of four SFU players to reach double-figures in scoring.
The Frankies won the rebounding battle handily, 53-34, as well as in the assist column, 19-7.
