BOX SCORE BROOKLYN, N.Y. – (Nov. 9, 2013) The Saint Francis U women's volleyball team suffered a, 3-0, setback to LIU Brooklyn Saturday afternoon.
Saint Francis (3-21; 3-8) started the match with a, 6-4, advantage over the home Blackbirds (18-7; 11-0), but LIU responded quickly gaining the lead on a, 7-1, run forcing a SFU timeout. LIU would continue to increase their lead as the match ended in favor of the home team, 25-17.
The Frankies opened up the second set in the same fashion as the first holding a, 3-2, advantage over LIU Brooklyn. Both teams battled back and forth, but after Saint Francis burned both timeouts the Blackbirds proved to much to handle, 25-20.
LIU made quick work of the Flash in the third set, tearing out to a, 9-2, lead and finally winning the match, 25-12.
Alanna Blenkarn (Pickering, Ontario, Canada/Pickering) finished the match with 19 assists and three digs. Libero
Breanna Kochinsky (Nicktown, Pa./Northern Cambria) had a team-high in digs with 12.
Hannah Kutny (Clifton Park, N.Y./Catholic Central) led the team in kills with seven.
The Red Flash stay in New York as the faceoff against St. Francis Brooklyn at 1 p.m. in search for their fourth Northeast Conference win.
