WALLINGFORD, Conn. - The Saint Francis University bowling team not only remained in first place after the first day of NEC No. 2 on Saturday, it also extended its lead as its conference record climbed to 10-3 with four wins in five matches.
The first four rounds of competition were Baker Matches consisting of 5 games, with high total pinfall declared the winner of the match.

In the last round of play, the competition shifted to a traditional match with fourth-ranked Fairleigh Dickinson. The two heavyweights went toe-to-toe from the first ball to the last, with the Red Flash ladies besting the Knights, 1114 - 1104.
Christina Leid (Ephrata, Pa./Ephrata) led the way with a strong 257 game while Ashley Howe and
Shelby Derr (Sunbury, Pa./Shikellamy) fired a 236 and 234, respectively. Seniors
Heidi Baumert (Lincoln, Neb./Pius X) and
Marissa Matassa (Plum, Pa./Plum Senior) contributed with a 205 and 182.
In Baker play, Derr averaged 21.10 for 39 completed frames, Howe averaged 20.67 for 39 completed frames, Leid average 20.29 for 38 completed frames,
Lauren Johnson (Lincoln, Neb./Lincoln Southeast) averaged 19.15 for 40 completed frames and
Sarah Ross (Crescent, Pa./Moon Area) averaged 17.7 for 39 completed frames.
"We have to look past this day, which was strong and go back to work tomorrow," SFU head coach
Tom Falbo said. "Today we went in with a great plan executed well. We have a plan in place for tomorrow, but this is the NEC. The goal is to focus and execute well for three matches tomorrow to finish what we've started."
The Red Flash face Kutztown University, LIU Brooklyn and Saint Francis College in traditional game matches in Sunday's action.
