GARDEN CITY, N.Y. (Feb. 24, 2013) - The Saint Francis U bowling team compiled a 4-1 team record on the final day of the ECAC Championship and secured a second place finish in the tournament.
"When this team comes together with focus and energy, they are capable of accomplishing much," head coach
Tom Falbo said. "We're pleased with our day, especially how we finished. It was a fine field and a good showing for our ladies today. Our depth again made an impact."
Sunday featured quad-baker matches, with total pinfall determining the tournament standings.

AFter the five matches, SFU was in third place, 47 pins behind the leader LIU Brooklyn. SFU faced Kutztown in the sixth match which was a position round. SFU turned up their performance with another strong finish, defeating KU in a high scoring match, 835 - 825. The Red Flash were bolstered with a strong finish in the match, with games of 217 and 258 to close out KU. Because of their strong finish, SFU finished in second place to LIU Brooklyn, who held onto the first place spot.
Ashley Howe was named Most Valuable Player of the tournament with a Baker Frame Average of 20.376. Her All-Tournament team and MVP honors backed up her strong fourth place finish in singles competition on Saturday.
"Ashley was in strong form today and does a great job for us in the lead-off spot," Falbo said. "As she got stronger at the end of the day, we moved her to anchor and the entire line-up came alive. It was a great contribution to the team and congratulations to her for her performance."
Saint Francis heads to Brooklyn, N.Y. this upcoming weekend for the final Northeast Conference meet of the season that will determine the NEC tournament teams.
