Sweep! Ervin and Millaud-Meunier capture weekly NEC awards

SOMERSET, N.J. (Feb. 25, 2013) – Following back-to-back Northeast Conference wins, senior Anthony Ervin (Chesterfield, Va./Fork Union Military Academy) was named Choice Hotels/NEC Player of the Week while freshman Ben Millaud-Meunier (Montreal, Quebec/Vanier) received Choice Hotels/NEC Rookie of the Week honors.

This marks the first time in the awards history that Saint Francis has swept both player and rookie honors.

This is the first conference award of Ervin's career and it comes off of his final home games in a Red Flash uniform. The 6-3 guard averaged 20.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 2.0 steals in wins over Fairleigh Dickinson and Monmouth. Against FDU on Thursday, the Virginia native put up a season-high 22 points and matched his career-high in rebounds, pulling in nine. He followed that up with a 19-point, five-rebound and three-assist performance versus Monmouth. Ervin shot 77.3 percent from the field, connecting on 17-of-22 shot attempts.

Millaud-Meunier earned his first conference award as well after he averaged 19.0 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists in the two victories. The native of Montreal, Quebec was red hot from beyond the 3-point arc, hitting 10-of-15 shots from that territory. The 6-1 rookie scored a career-high 26 points against FDU and hit seven three-pointers, the most by an SFU player since 2005. On Saturday versus the Hawks, he added 12 points and currently leads all NEC freshman with 8.6 ppg and 32 three-pointers on the season.

Saint Francis heads to New Britain, Conn. this Thursday night for a 7 p.m. matchup with Central Connecticut as they fight for one of the final NEC playoff spots.
