BLACKSBURG, Va. – (Aug. 30, 2013) The Saint Francis U women's volleyball team loses their second game of the Hokie Invitational to the hands of Pacific University. Saint Francis falls to (0-2) as Pacific (1-0) picks up its first win of the season.
Pacific shut down the Frankies in three sets (8-25, 9-25, 14-25). SFU struggled to get their offensive going throughout the first two sets mustering 17 points. Saint Francis lost a tough third set, which they were winning in the early stages 7-6. Pacific forced a Saint Francis timeout at 10-13 and put away the Red and White (14-25).
Junior setter Alanna Blenkarn (Pickering, Ontario, Canada/Pickering) led Saint Francis with a team high 12 assists, also chipping in two kills. Outside hitter Kayla Jeckell (Mountaintop, Pa./Crestwood) led the team in kills with six.
Tomorrow Saint Francis matches up against Virginia Tech at 12:30 p.m. and Towson at 5 p.m. to conclude the Hokie Invitational.
