BOX SCORE FAIRFIELD, Conn. – (Sept. 28, 2013) The Saint Francis U women's volleyball dropped Northeast Conference opener at Sacred Heart 3-0. The Pioneers (7-6; 1-0) downed the Red and White (0-14; 0-1) in three intense sets (20-25,20-25,22-25).

Despite the close score all three sets were controlled by Sacred Heart. The game consisted of eight ties and six lead changes.

Saint Francis appeared to have a late rally in the third set, only to be shut down by Allison Riggs' smash to end the match.

Hannah Kutny (Clifton Park, N.Y./Catholic Central) led the Red Flash with eight kills and seven digs. Breanna Kochinsky (Nicktown, Pa./Northern Cambria) marked a team-high 19 digs. Alanna Blenkarn (Pickering, Ontario, Canada/Pickering) had 29 assists in the contest.

Saint Francis looks for their first NEC win against Fairleigh Dickinson tomorrow at 1 p.m.
