BOX SCORE FAIRFIELD, CT (Oct. 25, 2014) -- The Saint Francis U women's volleyball team extended their Northeast Conference winning streak following a two-hour five set win against the Sacred Heart Pioneers. After dropping a close first set to the Pioneers (7-14; 2-6), Saint Francis (9-13; 5-3) rallied claiming the second and third sets 27-25, 25-18.
The Red Flash led the entire third set start to finish.
Entering the fourth set SFU held an early 8-5 led before the Pioneers went on a 20-6 run to force a fifth set and the outcome of the game.
The Red Flash grabbed an early led in the fifth set and fought off several SHU rallies to take the match 15-12.
Breanna Opera (Lancaster, N.Y./Lancaster ) led SFU in kills (17) and hitting percentage (.342). Freshman
Kelsey Roush (Johnstown, Pa./Richland) recorded 12 kills and 12 digs in the contest.
Newcomer
Jenna Veres (Independence, Ohio/Padua Franciscan) led the squad in digs with 19.
