LORETTO, Pa. – The Saint Francis defense turned the Duquesne game in the Red Flash's favor with
DaQuan Minter (Johnstown, Pa./Greater Johnstown)'s interception return for a touchdown in the fourth quarter. Last week at Robert Morris, the defense forced five turnovers on its way to a 40-7 victory over the Colonials.
Â
The Red Flash is 15th in the country with 14 interceptions and is 23rd in the FCS in allowing the fewest first downs. The pass defense is also 18th in the country and second in the NEC, allowing just 176.1 yards per game.
Â
On the individual side, defensive back
Lorenzo Jerome (Sunrise, Fla./J.P. Taravella) is fourth in the nation and first in the NEC with 1.6 passes defended per game and is fifth in the conference with 7.5 tackles per game. Minter is third in the conference and 22nd in the country in interceptions.

Geesey Among Nation's Best KickersRedshirt sophomore kicker
Lance Geesey (Harrisburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) earned national honors this week when he was named the College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) National Placekicker of the Week. His four field goals against Robert Morris made him a perfect 8-for-8 in the Red Flash's past two games. Geesey has also made 10 kicks in a row, a first for an SFU kicker in three years. He'll look to continue that streak in the season finale tomorrow against Central Connecticut at DeGol Field. Kickoff is set for noon.
Â
His numbers stack up in the conference and nationally. Along with being the fifth leading scorer in the NEC, Geesey leads the conference in field goal percentage (85 percent) and made field goals per game (1.7). On the national scale, Geesey's 85 percent make rate is 14th in the FCS and he's made the fourth most field goals in the country.
Â
A two-time NEC Special Teams Player of the Week, Geesey should garner strong support in the conference's postseason awards balloting.
Â
Senior DayThe Red Flash will honors its seniors prior to the Central Connecticut game tomorrow. The ceremony is set to begin at 11:40 a.m. just prior to the noon kickoff.
