Chelsy Cosentino (New Kensington, Pa./Kiski Area) homered and had three RBIs as the Saint Francis softball team beat Morgan State, 10-2, in six innings Sunday to start a season 4-0 for the first time in school history.
The Flash scored three runs in the first inning, the first coming on an RBI single by
Taylor Parsons (Bellefonte, Pa./Bald Eagle) to score
Davina Kachnovitz (Bear, Del./Glasgow). Neeb's double to left-center scored Parsons and Cosentino made it 3-0.
Morgan State added runs in the first and second innings to cut the SFU lead to 3-2, but Neeb got one of those back in the third with a run-scoring single to left to bring home
Alexis Bower (Cogan Station, Pa./Williamsport Area). The Flash put two more on the board in the fifth inning with a pair of RBI doubles. Cosentino's double to right scored Kachnovitz, and Neeb followed with a two-bagger to bring Cosentino around to make it 6-2.
The Flash was able to invoke the mercy rule for the fourth time in four games with a four-run sixth inning.
Lindsey Reid (Bear, Del./Caravel Academy)'s bunt single scored
Samantha Thomas (Sterling, Va./Park View) to make it 7-2. Bower's sacrifice fly made it 8-2, and Cosentino's two-run homer to left scored her and Kachnovitz for the third time.
Ketarah DeVries (Forreston, Ill./Forreston) allowed the two runs early but pitched five innings to earn the victory. Saint Francis returns to action a week from tomorrow at the Rebel Spring Games in Florida.
