Softball Drops Two Games

BOX SCORE 1 | BOX SCORE 2 WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – The Saint Francis softball team lost its first two games of the season on Tuesday, falling to Temple, 7-4, and Niagara, 2-0.  Samantha Thomas (Sterling, Va./Park View) went 2-for-2 with a walk and two runs scored in the Temple game.

The Owls scored four runs in the second and added another in the third inning to take a 5-0 lead, but the Flash cut into the lead in its half of the third. Two errors in the frame allowed two SFU runners to score. Thomas and Lindsey Reid (Bear, Del./Caravel Academy) crossed when Davina Kachnovitz (Bear, Del./Glasgow) reached on an error by the Temple shortstop.

Down 7-2 in the fifth, Thomas and Reid led off with singles, and Kachnovitz doubled Thomas home. Later in the inning, Chelsy Cosentino (New Kensington, Pa./Kiski Area)'s sacrifice fly to center plated Reid to make it 7-4.

Against Niagara, the Flash got a two-out double from Kelsie Marconi (Lowber, Pa./Yough) and a single from Sabrie Neeb (Front Royal, Va./Skyline) in the seventh, but the rally stalled with the go-ahead run at the plate.

Saint Francis takes on La Salle and UMass Lowell on Thursday as the Rebel Games continue this week.
