BOX SCORE 3 WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – It's certainly rare for a college softball team to play three games in one day, but that's what bad weather forced the Saint Francis softball team into on its final day at the Rebel Spring Games on Friday. How much did the altered and expanded schedule hurt the Flash? They outscored opponents 18-2 en route to three victories and a 6-2 trip to Florida. The Red Flash (10-2) defeated UMass Lowell twice, 3-1 and 7-0, and beat Manhattan, 8-1.
Saint Francis broke open a close game with Manhattan with a five-run seventh inning, fueled by an
Alexis Bower (Cogan Station, Pa./Williamsport Area) home run. In the second game against UMass Lowell,
Aly Ramsaier (Mesa, Ariz./Mountain View) put the Flash on the board with a leadoff homer in the third. The Flash used a five-run sixth inning which included a home run from
Davina Kachnovitz (Bear, Del./Glasgow) and a run-scoring triple by
Chelsy Cosentino (New Kensington, Pa./Kiski Area).
The Red Flash next travel to Washington, D.C., for the George Washington Tournament next Friday-Sunday.
