(Sept. 27, 2014) -- After leading the Sacred Heart Pioneers 2-0, the Saint Francis U women's volleyball team battered the Pioneer storm, defeating SHU in five sets to open Northeast Conference play. Saint Francis (5-10; 1-0) complied a .247 attacking percentage throughout the match, totaling 61 kills and 76 digs.
Throughout the five set battle the two teams exchanged 35 ties and 16 lead changes.
In the final set, Saint Francis played to win ending the game on an 11-3 run.
Saint Francis doubled up the Pioneers in blocks totaling 14 to SHU's (5-8; 0-1) six.
Captain
Hannah Kutny (Clifton Park, N.Y./Catholic Central) led the Red Flash attack totaling 23.5 points, while recording double digit numbers in kills and digs. Kutny led all players in kills with 23.
Freshman
Kelsey Roush (Johnstown, Pa./Richland) complied 15 kills and a SFU team high 21 digs. Roush totaled 18 points in the NEC home opener.
