BOX SCORE 2 BALTIMORE, Md. (Sept. 6, 2014) -- The Saint Francis U women's volleyball team earned it's first and second victories of the 2014 season on the final day of the Loyola Volleyball Tournament.
SFU earned its first win against the Quinippiac Bobcats 3-1.
The Frankies jumped on the Bobcats early winning the first set 25-22. Quinippiac responded to the Red Flash charge by edging out Saint Francis 28-26.
The Frankies rallied back to defeat the Bobcats winning back-to-back sets 25-19 and 25-23.
Hannah Kutny (Clifton Park, N.Y./Catholic Central) led the SFU attack tallying 21 kills, while freshman
Jenna Veres (Independence, Ohio/Padua Franciscan) collected a team-high 15 digs.
Emily Marcinowski (Strongsville, Ohio/Padua Franciscan) had double figures in kills (13) and digs (12).
Alanna Blenkarn (Pickering, Ontario, Canada/Pickering) recorded a match-high 46 assists in the contest.
The Red Flash continued to thrive, earning their second win of the day over Loyola 3-0.
Saint Francis dominated the Greyhounds in a game that featured six ties and three lead changes.
Following a service ace from Blenkarn, SFU won the first set 25-17. The Flash made quick work of Loyola in the remaining two sets (25-20, 25-19).
Marcinowski tallied 14 kills, while collecting 14.5 points.
Hannah Kutny (Clifton Park, N.Y./Catholic Central) led Saint Francis with 15 digs.
Marcinowski and Benkarn for the Red Flash nabbed All-Tournament Honors.
SFU faces off against Youngstown State in it's home opener Sept. 9 at 7 p.m.
