LORETTO, Pa. (Jan. 17, 2015)
– As per usual, it was another exciting game between Saint Francis U and Sacred Heart inside DeGol Arena on Saturday afternoon, but this time it was the Pioneers who came away with the 101-90 win.

It wasn't quite like the 132-124 game that took place in March in the NEC Tournament, but there were still 191 points scored on the ESPN3 broadcast today. Similar to when these two squads met last weekend, Saint Francis faced a large deficit in the second half and attempted a late comeback.

"Sacred Heart hit a lot of tough shots in the first half and those are the shots we are trying to force, but we didn't do a good job protecting the rim today," said SFU head coach Joe Haigh.

Sacred Heart jumped out to an early 10-2 lead in half one less than three minutes into the game before the Red Flash got going. They responded with a 7-0 run sparked by Alexa Hayward (Beaver Falls, Pa./Blackhawk)'s jumper, steal, and second jumper that all happened in a nine second span. Hayward reached the 30-point mark for the fifth time in 2014-15 as she finished with 33 points going along with five assists, four rebounds, and four steals.

The Flash went on to take their largest lead of the entire game after that at the 13:56 mark of half one where they led by six after an 18-4 run. The Pioneers regained the lead at the 6:49 mark and led by seven at the break, 55-48. Sacred Heart was on fire in the opening period as they shot 57.5% (23-of-40) and they scored 55 points.

The run that hurt Saint Francis the most was when Sacred Heart opened the second half on an 8-0 burst and held a 15-point advantage with 18 minutes to play. The Pioneers kept their lead at double-digits until Aisha Brock (Jacksonville, Fla./Potter's House Christian Academy) caught fire for SFU.

"In the second half, we gave up a quick 8-0 run and we struggled to defend the three-point line which resulted in us getting in a hole," Haigh continued.

Brock hit three triples in a row for the Red Flash and got the deficit to just four at the 3:40 mark (89-85). Sacred Heart then closed out the game on a 12-5 run to earn their second victory over the Flash in a week.

Brock finished with 24 points for Saint Francis and five rebounds, marking her fifth straight game in double-figures. Corissa Archer (Clermont, Fla./East Ridge) and Rochelle Reece (Ajax, Ontario, Canada/Pickering) scored nine and eight points off the bench, respectively.

Sacred Heart received a significant contribution from Hannah Kimmel as she dropped 26 points and grabbed 23 rebounds. The Red Flash forced 25 Pioneer turnovers in the game.

Saint Francis will host St. Francis Brooklyn (4-13, 1-4 NEC) on Monday evening for a 7 p.m. contest.
