Red Flash Finish 5-5 at NEC #1

ALTOONA, Pa. - The Saint Francis Red Flash women's bowling team finished with the second highest average at NEC #1 with a 190.2 but some close defeats kept the Red Flash with a 5-5 record on Sunday at Holiday Bowl in Altoona. Sarah Ross (Crescent, Pa./Moon Area) and Kyra Udziela (Lemont, Ill./Lemont) led the Red Flash with baker frame averages of 19.61 and 19.45, respectively.

In the opening match, the Red Flash kept within 20 pins heading into game 5, but the Knights threw a 211 to Saint Francis' 182.

Saint Francis took on water early with a 126 game but came back strong with a 245, but never could regain that form with the Terriers gettting the win.

The Red Flash stayed steady with closed frames throughout each game to win the match.

Saint Francis went neck-and-neck with Scared Heart, after the Pionners got a double in the 10th frame to beat SFU, 971-965. The Red Flash held the lead heading into the deciding game.

The Red Flash led after four then found some good fortune mixed with good shots to defeat the Blackbirds.

"We dug holes then dug out to see matches come down to the wire. We fell in three matches this weekend by an average of eight pins per match. We'll work together to build momentum quicker and try to get on the other side of these tight contests," said head coach Tom Falbo.

The Red Flash head to Millsboro, Del., for the Hawk Classic on Nov. 20-22.
