LORETTO, Pa – The Saint Francis Red Flash women's volleyball team ended the 2015 campaign on a high note. The Red Flash defeated the Bryant Bulldogs in three straight sets on Senior Day at DeGol Arena on Sunday. SFU defeated Bryant 25-14, 25-18 and 25-22.

The Red Flash ended the regular season on a two-game winning streak. The Flash finished regular season play with an overall record of 6-23 and 4-10 in the conference. With the loss, Bryant fell to 19-13 overall and 10-4 in the NEC. The Bulldogs have clinched a NEC Tournament berth.

Senior
Hannah Kutny (Clifton Park, N.Y./Catholic Central) led the Red Flash offense with 12 kills and eight digs. Senior
Chelsea Easter (Burlington, Ontario, Canada/Notre Dame Roman Catholic) was second on the team with nine kills, while finishing with a .333 hitting percentage.
Sophie Murdock (Lake Orion, Mich./Lake Orion ) and
Emily Marcinowski (Strongsville, Ohio/Padua Franciscan) had eight kills. Murdock ended the match with an impressive .444 hitting percentage.
Lauren Williams (Reno, Nev./Damonte Ranch) had a game-high 33 assists., while
Jenna Veres (Independence, Ohio/Padua Franciscan) led SFU with 23 digs. Senior
Maria Cup (Chesterland, Ohio/Gilmour Academy) added four kills, one service ace and four block assists.

Saint Francis and Bryant were locked in a stalemate in the early going in the first set. Neither team gained much of an advantage. Three straight attack errors by the Bulldogs would lead to an 8-5 advantage for the Red Flash. Saint Francis would go on a 5-0 run to pull ahead, 15-8. The Flash would continue the offensive onslaught to win 25-14. Marcinowski had a set-high five kills for Saint Francis. Williams contributed with nine assists in the set, while Veres finished with seven digs.

The Flash sprung ahead to an early 6-1 lead in the second set. The Bulldogs pulled within six at 13-7, forcing a Red Flash timeout. Two kills by Bryant's Kiley Robbins cut the deficit to 13-10. Two Bulldog attack errors gave the Red Flash some much-needed insurance. SFU would score the last two points to win the set, 25-18. Kutny, Easter and Murdock each finished with four kills in the set. Williams dished out 12 assists, while Veres had 11 digs.

The Red Flash was staring at an early 4-1 deficit in the third set. A kill by Murdock and
Kelsey Roush (Johnstown, Pa./Richland) tied the set at 4-4. Neither team could gain enough momentum to jump out to a big lead in the middle of the third set. The Red Flash would score the last two points to secure the set and the match, 25-22. The third set featured eight ties and three lead changes. Kutny had five kills and Easter finished with four kills in the third set. Williams had 12 assists and Roush had seven digs for the Red Flash.
