Saint Francis Suffers Setback at Duquesne

PITTSBURGH (March 11, 2015) – The Saint Francis University women's lacrosse team suffered a setback at the hands of Duquesne, 19-2, away from Loretto on Wednesday afternoon.

The Dukes piled up 44 shots on the Red Flash and put pressure on the SFU defense the entire game.

Duquesne scored 30 seconds into the contest, but SFU responded as Christina Fini (Huntington, N.Y./Smithtown East) scored a few minutes later to tie the game at one. The Dukes then scored nine unanswered goals to take a 10-1 lead into halftime.

Out of the break, Duquesne piled on eight more tallies, until Holly Lawrence (Damascus, Md./Damascus) put one past the Dukes goalie, Jenna Bishop.

Lawrence finished with a team-high three shots on goal and three ground balls. Jessica Mazzur (Dallastown, Pa./York Catholic) led SFU with two draw controls. Kimberly Gronski (Corning, N.Y./Corning East High) has a team-high four caused turnovers to go along with three ground balls.

Heather McKee (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright Bel Air) made 12 saves in net, while freshman goalie Elizabeth Henry (Wilmington, Del./Delaware Military Academy) saw some time in the second half and made three saves.
