BOX SCORE 2 WINTER HAVEN, Fla. (March 4, 2015) – The Saint Francis softball team split a pair of games on Wednesday afternoon to open play at the Rebel Spring Games in Winter Haven, Florida. The Flash defeated Northeast Conference foe Sacred Heart in game one, 3-2, and then fell to Presbyterian College, 3-0.
Â
Ketarah DeVries (Forreston, Ill./Forreston) got the start against PC and she turned in a very strong performance. The junior right-hander worked five innings while striking out five and allowing three runs, all earned. DeVries was very efficient over the course of her outing, as it was only the fifth inning that she ran into any trouble. With two runners on, Presbyterian's Padgett Harrington pinch hit and sent DeVries' pitch over the left field wall to give PC the lead.Â
Â
That was enough for starter Sydney Seigler as she went the distance, throwing a complete game shutout. Over the course of her outing, she allowed one hit and struck out five. The only SFU hit came courtesy of
Jordan Seneca (New Kensington, Pa./Plum). Seneca has been playing extremely well over the course of the last few games, she recorded two RBI hits in yesterday's victory over the Dolphins.
Â
The Sacred Heart game will be stated and posted as soon as the team returns from Florida. The Flash will play Akron and Rider tomorrow, March 6. Â
