Men's Soccer Set to Play in Annual Mayor's Cup

Oneonta, N.Y.-  Saint Francis men's soccer hits the road for the second straight weekend to open the season, travelling to Hartwick College for the 40th annual Mayor's Cup.
 
The Red Flash (0-0-1) will take on Northern Kentucky on Friday at 5 p.m. before taking on the host Hartwick Hawks on Sunday at 3 p.m.
 
About the Flash
Saint Francis comes into the game at 0-0-1, drawing the Loyola Greyhound 0-0 last Friday in Baltimore.  Andrew Garcia (Sicklerville, N.J./Timber Creek Regional) made a trio of saves in the match as the Flash out shot the Greyhounds, but could not finish a scoring opportunities. In three matches this season (two exhibitions) Saint Francis has neither scored nor allowed a goal.
 
About the Norse
Northern Kentucky comes into the match at 1-1 on the season.  The Norse dropped a 3-2 decision at Cincinnati before knocking off Memphis 1-0 last Friday. They were picked to finish eighth in the Horizon League pre-season poll. This is NKU's first season in the Horizon after playing to a 6-10-1 season in 2014 and 1-4-1 in the Atlantic Sun Conference. A.J. Fleak is a strong goalkeeper, notching his 11th career shutout in the win over Memphis.
 
About the Hawks
The Hawks come into the weekend at 1-1 on the season, dropping their opening match of the season to New Hampshire and defeating Saint Bonaventure.
 
The Hawks are one of two Division-I teams that Hartwick features (joining women's water polo) the other sports compete at the Division-III level in the Empire 8 conference. Hartwick is the reigning Sun Belt Champions after going 3-1-1 in conference play last season and winning the conference tournament.
 
Jack Miller is a pre-season All-Conference defender and Jamie O'Grady earned the same honors at midfield. Lenny Wilson has gotten both starts in goal this season stopping six of eight shots so far this season.
