No. 6 Loyola Downs Men's Volleyball, 3-0

CHICHAGO - The Saint Francis men's volleyball split its two-game Chicago road trip, losing at No. 6 Loyola University Chicago on Saturday night, 3-0. The Flash fell 20-25, 16-25 and 22-25.

With the loss, the Flash drops to 1-3 on the season, while the Ramblers improve to 3-2.

Jeff Hogan (Northern Cambria, Pa./Northern Cambria) led SFU in kills for the second straight night with seven. Stephen Braswell (Manchester, Pa./Northeastern) finished with six kills and six digs while Mike Marshman (Glenmont, N.Y./Bethlehem Central) added five kills on nine attempts for a .444 hitting percentage.

Loyola took an early lead in the first set,10-4, before forcing a Saint Francis timeout. LUC would control the rest of the set, as the Ramblers went on to score four of the last five points to win, 25-20.

The second set was a tight contest early, as the two teams tied the score at 8-8. Loyola went a 3-0 run to go ahead, 16-11. The Ramblers scored two straight points to take the second set, 25-16.

The Flash cut the Ramblers' deficit to one at 8-7, but Loyola broke open the set on a 4-0 run and gained a 12-7 lead. SFU scored three unanswered to cut LUC's lead to one at 19-18.

"I was proud of the guys with a positive attitude. I think that we stood pretty though with a good team. Loyola was a little better than us tonight and their middles were too much for us to handle," said head coach Mike Rumbaugh.

The Red Flash opens its home schedule next weekend, starting with a Friday night matchup with IPFW starting at 7 p.m.
