Men's Soccer Closes Out Non-Conference With Howard

Flash Points:
  • SFU is looking for their seventh non-conference win of the season, the most since 2013
  • The Red Flash are 2-0 in the regular season and 4-0 overall at home in 2016
  • SFU own a 9-1 all-time series lead with Howard

LORETTO, PA- The Red Flash men's soccer team will wrap-up non-conference play when it hosts the Howard Bison out of the Sun Belt Conference on Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 p.m.

ABOUT THE FLASH
Saint Francis comes into the match at 6-4 on the season after falling 1-0 at Lehigh last Tuesday night. Balance has been the key for the Flash this season as 10 different players have scored for SFU this season led by a trio of players (Troy Kiernan, Nicco Mastrangelo (Venetia, Pa/Peters Township) and Jack Webber (Bernville, Pa./Tulpehocken)) who each have two. The balance has paid off as Saint Francis has seen their RPI rise to as high as 51 (currently 98th) and have been ranked as high as third in the Northeast Region in the latest coaches' poll. Defensively, the Flash have been solid, averaging one goal against per match. Marcus Rojas (Fremont, Calif./Bellarmine College Preparatory) has gotten all 10 starts in goal, playing to a .98 goals against average and a .730 save percentage.

ABOUT THE BISON
The Bison come into Tuesday's match at 1-8-3 on the season. SFU will be the sixth NEC school that Howard will play this season, having lost to FDU and St. Francis Brooklyn and drawing against LIU Brooklyn, Central Connecticut and Robert Morris. The Bison have been a strong defensive team, as Kenneth Hersey has a strong .764 save percentage and a 1.65 goals against average and averages about five saves per match. Howard has struggled to score so far this season, finding the net just six times in 12 matches. Andres Gomez leads the team with two tallies on the year. This will be the 11th meeting between the teams with SFU winning nine of the 10 previous meetings, including a 2-1 win in 2013, the last time the teams met.
