Amanda Balas (Level Green, Pa./Penn-Trafford) was named NEC Rookie of the Week for her performance at the three-day UMES Hawk Classic.
Balas led the way for the Red Flash on the first day of the UMES Hawk Classic contributing with a baker frame average of 18.49 for 49 frames.
The freshman from Level Green, Pa. finished behind
Kyra Udziela (Lemont, Ill./Lemont) on the final day of the tournament with a 20.07 baker frame average.
"It was Amanda's ability to manager her pain, which allowed her on Sunday to execute at a high level in our last two matches. Her ability to shot-make improved greatly as she contributed to our team. Congratulations to her on her conference honor," said head coach
Tom Falbo.
Over the weekend, she finished with a 177.8 traditional frame average. This is Balas' first NEC Rookie of the Week award.
Saint Francis heads to Wallingford, Conn., this weekend for the first NEC tournament of the season.
