Men's Volleyball Overpowers Princeton, 3-1

LORETTO, Pa. - Jeff Hogan (Northern Cambria, Pa./Northern Cambria) had 16 kills to lead the Saint Francis men's volleyball to a three sets to one victory over Princeton on Friday night at DeGol Arena. The Flash won the match, 25-19, 25-22, 22-25 and 25-23.
 
The Flash improves to 6-6 overall and 1-3 in conference, while the Tigers fall to 2-6 overall and 2-1 in the EIVA.
 
Hogan hit .414 and added eight digs. Stephen Braswell (Manchester, Pa./Northeastern) was second on the team in kills with 15 and contributed with eight digs. Keith Kegerreis (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg) and Mike Marshman (Glenmont, N.Y./Bethlehem Central) tallied four blocks each. Daniel Ford (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North) dished out a game-high 44 assists.
 
The Flash opened the first set with a 4-0 advantage, and forced Princeton to use an early timeout. Saint Francis continued to hold a lead but Princeton would come back to tie the score at 11-11. SFU used a late 7-0 run to lead, 20-13. A Brandon Buck (Baden, Pa./Ambridge) kill gave the Flash the set, 25-19.
 
The second set was a tight contest as both teams traded points early. Saint Francis strung together a 4-0 run to pull ahead, 16-12. The Flash scored the last two points to take the second set, 25-22.
 
Princeton took the early lead in the third set, but the Flash was able to tie the score at 12-12. The Tigers' used a 3-0 run to lead, 20-17. Saint Francis pulled within one at 23-22, but Princeton would score the last two points to take the set, 25-22.
 
SFU jumped out to an 11-8 lead in the fourth set. Princeton got within one after a Saint Francis service error, and would eventually tie the score at 20-20. A Hogan kill sealed the victory for the Flash, 25-23.
 
The Flash returns to action tomorrow against NJIT, the matchup is scheduled for 7 p.m.
