WHITEWATER, Wis. – The Saint Francis women's bowling team saw three of their four losses today come down to the final frames of the match, only to come away empty handed at the Warhawks Classic.

Sarah Ross (Crescent, Pa./Moon Area) and
Ashley Howe-Yorio (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield Area) led the Flash in scoring with frame averages of 20.2 and 19.8, respectively.

In the opening match, the Red Flash was only down 17 pins after four games then started with a spare and a triple while UNL opened early. The Flash then could not repeat on the back half of the final game. Those open games were all the No. 2 Huskers needed to stay clean and seal the win.

Saint Francis had a lead from game one, but again faltered in game five to give Valparaiso hope. The Flash threw a 166, but Valpo opened in the closing frame giving the Flash the win in match two.

The Flash closed strong for the only time all day with a 223 game in game five. However, Elmhurst fired a 227 in game five to hold onto a close win for their squad.

This match was McKendree's from the outset, building a strong lead after three games. In game four and five, the Flash made the right move on the lane finishing with games of 193 and 247.

SFU: 992Central Missouri: 1045

The Flash picked up the pace with what they found in the previous match with games of 225, 211 and 203 to start. The match turned when execution wasn't consistent and Central Missouri moved into to where SFU was playing and fired off games of 211 and 235 to get the win.
"You can't have opportunities like that to go 4-1 and finish three matches like we did to lose them. However, what we learned important to us and we have put in place a better plan for tomorrow," said head coach
Tom Falbo.

The Flash has five traditional matches tomorrow at Sheridan Lanes in Kenosha, Wis., for day two of the Warhawk Classic.
