WHITEWATER, Wis. – The Saint Francis women's bowling team went 0-3 on Sunday and again not able to break through in tightly contested matches against the Midwest teams at the Warhawk Classic.
 
The Red Flash saw three players with notable baker performances. Sarah Littleton (Round Lake Beach, Ill./Grayslake North) led the Flash with a 19.46 baker frame average for the weekend and 20.79 for the day. Ashley Howe-Yorio (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield Area) bowled strong averaging 19.43 for the weekend baker rounds. Kyra Udziela (Lemont, Ill./Lemont) averaged 18.23 for the weekend.
 
In match one, the right lane proved golden with all but one game being won there. The Red Flash forced game seven with a 220-147 win in game six. However, the Green Wave took game seven 207-168 to earn the match win.
 
Round two saw the Flash face the No. 2 team in the country, the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Saint Francis fired games of 226, 204, 157, 244 and 203 to go up 3-2 on the Huskers. In game six the Huskers prevailed 212-203 for force game seven. Early opens cost SFU and Nebraska won game seven 225-157.
 
The last match of the day saw SFU against Valparaiso. Going down 0-3, the Flash won games four and five until losing game six and the match, 4-2.
 
" We took the first match to game seven, and bowled great in our second match against Nebraska also taking it to game seven. But we couldn't seal the deal. We will rest up a bit, then get back to work for NEC #2 and end this season strong," said head coach Tom Falbo.
 
Up next for the Red Flash is NEC #2 in Wallingford, Conn., on March 5-6.
