SOMERSET, N.J. – Saint Francis freshman Kyra Udziela (Lemont, Ill./Lemont) swept this week's NEC Bowling of the Week and NEC Rookie of the Week honors for her performance at the three-day Red Flash Invitational in Altoona Pa.
 
Udziela's breakout performance spearheaded Saint Francis' 11-1 record at the Red Flash Invitational. The lone SFU bowler to start every match during the three-day tournament, Udziela averaged a team-leading 20.7 pins per frame. The rookie right-hander made good use of her strike ball, striking a team-high 77 times in 142 attempts.
 
Her .542 strike percentage was more than 100 points higher than the next best Red Flash performer. Udziela cleaned up 89.9 percent of non-split spare opportunities and left only 18 opens in 136 frames bowling. The Illinois product was sensational during the baker play portion of the three-day meet.
 
Udziela, who threw 11 strikes in her first 12 baker frames on Friday, averaged 21.4 pins per frame over the course of 75 baker frames bowled. She was also a force during Saturday's traditional team matches. Leading the Flash to a six-win day, Udziela accounted for 198.2 traditional average that included 279 high game. She started Saturday's schedule by throwing a 214 game in a 975-943 triumph over nationally-ranked Kutztown. At one point during traditional team competition, Udziela rolled 18 strikes in 20 attempts.

"We bowled on the longest NCAA pattern and Kyra was able to settle in quickly and contribute to our team each day. Her ball motion and angle to the pocket was able to produce good pin carry and high scoring. Congratulations to her on her performance," said head coach Tom Falbo.
 
The Red Flash will travel to the Wisconsin Whitewater Warhawk Classic on Feb. 19-21.
