PHILIPPI, W.V. – The Saint Francis men's volleyball team extended their win streak to eight games in a 3-1 win against Alderson Broaddus on Saturday night.
Stephen Braswell (Manchester, Pa./Northeastern) led the Flash in kills with 15 and added seven digs.
Jeff Hogan (Northern Cambria, Pa./Northern Cambria) and
Xavier Krause (Butler, Pa./Butler) finished with 12 and 11 kills.
Ray Frazer (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg) handed out 42 assists, while
Gabe Woffindin (Allentown, Pa./William Allen) finished with 14 digs.
Saint Francis scored the first seven points of the first set. Alderson Broaddus pulled within three at 10-7. The Flash would outscore the Battlers, 3-2, to win the first set, 25-19.
In a marathon of a second match, ADU pulled out to a 6-3 lead. SFU would rally to tie to the score at 10-10. The Flash would lead, 20-17, before the Battlers would cut the deficit to one at 20-19. The rest of the match remained tight, but ADU scored the last two points to take the second set, 29-27.
SFU jumped out to a 10-7 lead in the third set. The Flash rallied off three straight points to lead, 16-11. ADU would pull within one at 23-22, but a Hogan kill gave the Flash the third set, 25-23.
The fourth set remained tight, but the Flash went on to score four unanswered points to lead, 11-7. Alderson Broaddus would tie the score at 14-14. SFU went on a 3-0 run to lead, 20-15. An Krause kill gave the Flash the set and match, 25-20.
The Flash returns home on Thursday to face No. 14 Lewis at 7 p.m.
