HOWELL, N.J. – The top seed Saint Francis women's bowling team played their way to the semi-finals at the NEC Championship on Saturday against the Sacred Heart Pioneers.Sacred Heart found the fire beating SFU, 4-0, eliminating the Flash who took third place in the tournament.

Kyra Udziela (Lemont, Ill./Lemont) and Ashley Howe-Yorio (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield Area) led the weekend's scoring with a 20.6 and 20.12 baker frame average, respectively. Sarah Littleton (Round Lake Beach, Ill./Grayslake North) averaged 19.09 for the weekend, while Shelby Derr (Sunbury, Pa./Shikellamy) averaged 17.3 and Sarah Ross (Crescent, Pa./Moon Area) averaged 16.67.

The Pioneers fired games of 235, 198, 323 and 240, which is a lot of pins to put up against the Flash who could never get the pinfall to get settled into the day.

Sacred Heart went on the Championship against LIU Brooklyn. The Pioneers defeated the Blackbirds two matches in a row to claim this year's NEC Championship.

"We had a good plan and got lined up in practice well. But then a slow start was fuel for Sacred Heart who took advantage of every opportunity and then some," said head coach Tom Falbo. This was the last day for our three special seniors, and we walked out with our heads high and cohesive, as they committed to each other from day one of this season."

That concludes the 2015-16 season for Saint Francis. The 2016-17 season will start on Oct. 1.
