Women's Lacrosse Falters at Campbell, 20-10

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – The Saint Francis women's lacrosse team fell on the road, 20-10, to the Campbell Camels on Thursday at Barker-Lane Stadium.

With the loss, the Flash falls to 1-3 on the season, while the Camels improve to 2-2.

Sydney Rowan (Rochester, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy), Christina Fini (Huntington, N.Y./Smithtown East), Jessica Fischetti (Massapequa, N.Y./Plainedge) and Jessica Mazzur (Dallastown, Pa./York Catholic) each added two goals to led the Flash. Alex Anton (Galloway, Ohio/Hilliard Bradley) tallied a team-high five draw controls, while Heather McKee (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright Bel Air), Fini, Eilis Hagan (Damascus, Md./Damascus) and Katie Schaaf (Ellicott City, Md./Hebron) each finished with three ground balls.  

Campbell jumped out to a 5-1 lead over the first seven minutes of the game. The Flash would pull within two at 5-3, thanks to goals by Mazzur and Fischetti. The Camels answered with four unanswered goals to lead 9-3.

Fischetti scored her second goal of the match to make the score 9-4. CU would outscore SFU, 3-1, to end the first half, 12-5.

The Camels scored two goals to open the second period. It was Sarah Mahon (Malverne, N.Y./Kellenberg Memorial) who put the Flash on the board in the second half. Saint Francis answered 35 seconds later on a goal by Rowan to make the score 14-7.  

Campbell scored four consecutive goals, before Holly Lawrence (Damascus, Md./Damascus) scored her first goal of the game with eight left to play. Mazzur scored her second goal of the match at the 4:33 mark, as the Flash trailed, 18-9.

CU went on to score two more goals, before Fini connected on her second goal of the game with just 37 second left in the match.

Saint Francis finishes up their road trip on Saturday at Gardner-Webb at 2 p.m.
