WALLINGFORD, Conn. – The Saint Francis women's bowling team embodied the phrase of 'never, ever give up' en route to five straight victories on Sunday and a 9-1-weekend record at the NEC #2 in Wallingford, Conn.

Ashley Howe-Yorio (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield Area) was great as an anchor and led the Flash with a 21.1 frame average.
Kyra Udziela (Lemont, Ill./Lemont) followed with a 19.23 average;
Sarah Ross (Crescent, Pa./Moon Area) and
Shelby Derr (Sunbury, Pa./Shikellamy) had frame averages of 18.96 and 18.73, respectively.
Haley Carroll (Williamsville, N.Y./Williamsville South) rounded out the scoring with a 17.1 frame average.

In the opening match, the Flash was down 22 pins after four games, giving the Terriers lane choice. In game five, SFU adjusted and executed rolling a 208 to the Terriers' 177 to claim the win for SFU.

Saint Francis had a different reaction to deal with it this match. After learning from a 157 game in game one, SFU fired games of 222, 243, 190 and 209 against the Cougars who bowled well in the match.

The last two games in this match were determined by consistency given a tough pair of lanes. It was in those two games where SFU overcame a 34-pin deficit to get a nine-pin victory.

This match was even after two games, when in game three, SFU took control rolling a 221 verves the Blackbirds' 206. LIU inched closer after game four with a 209 versus 193 for SFU. Saint Francis had their lane choice and made great shots in game five to hold onto the win.

The Red Flash needed this win against the Knights to claim the regular season title. Going down, 233-174, after game one, SFU fought back with games of 218, 200 and 225 to take the lead by two pins (817-815) and get lane choice. SFU stayed strong in game five with a 224 verses the Knight's 216.

Both SFU and SHU finished with identical 14-6 records and had a 2-2 head-to-head record. The next tiebreaker was total pin fall on the season, which SFU had the edge over SHU to claim the season championship.
