No. 15 Men's Volleyball Drops 3-0 Decision to George Mason

FAIRFAX, Va. – The No. 15 Saint Francis men's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to the George Mason Patriots on Friday night in league play. The Flash fell, 27-25, 28-30 and 22-25.

Saint Francis falls to 17-9 on the season and 8-5 in the EIVA, while George Mason improves to 15-11 and 9-4 in the EIVA.

Jeff Hogan (Northern Cambria, Pa./Northern Cambria) led the Flash with nine kills and 12 digs. Adam Kniffen (Latrobe, Pa./Greater Latrobe) finished with 26 assists and Keith Kegerreis (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg) tallied seven total blocks.

Saint Francis jumped out to an early 11-5 lead in the opening set and forced George Mason to use a timeout. The Patriots used a 6-1 run to pull within one at 14-13, but GMU would go on to score three-straight points. The Flash answered with two points to gain game point at 24-23. The Patriots would score the last two points to take the first set, 27-25.

Both teams traded points early in the second set, but George Mason scored thee unanswered points to take an early 6-3 advantage. The rest of the set remained tight as the Flash scored two-straight points to tie the score at 24-24. GMU would score the last two points to end the marathon set, 30-28.

The Flash and the Patriots exchanged points early in the third set. SFU would take a 13-11 lead, but GMU went on a 3-0 run to take a 14-13 lead. The Patriots went on a 6-1 run to put the game out of reach. A SFU attack error gave GMU the set and the match, 25-22.

Saint Francis will look to clinch a playoff berth tomorrow against the University of Charleston at 7 p.m.
